The North Queensland Cowboys have secured one of their brightest young talents, with Jaxon Purdue re-signing through to the end of the 2030 NRL season.

The new deal comes despite strong interest from rival clubs, including the Melbourne Storm and incoming expansion side the Perth Bears, underlining how highly the Cowboys rate the emerging outside back.

Rising Star Locked In

Still just 20 years old, Purdue has quickly established himself as one of North Queensland’s most exciting prospects.

The former Queensland Under-19s representative made his NRL debut against the Sydney Roosters in June 2024, and has since gone on to play 37 first-grade matches, scoring an impressive 20 tries.

His rapid development and attacking instincts have made him a key part of the Cowboys’ backline moving forward.

Strong Recent Form

Purdue’s form was on full display last weekend, scoring a double in North Queensland’s 32-0 win over the St George Illawarra Dragons at Jubilee Stadium.

Performances like that have only strengthened the belief that he is destined for higher honours.

Origin Future Beckons

Widely tipped as a future Queensland Maroons representative, Purdue’s re-signing is a major boost for the Cowboys as they look to build a competitive roster around their next generation of stars.

By locking him in until 2030, North Queensland have ensured one of the game’s most promising young outside backs will remain a central figure in their long-term plans.
