The Wests Tigers have strengthened their backline for the future, signing Dolphins centre Jake Averillo on a four-year deal from 2027.
Player Background
Jake Averillo, 25, has built a solid NRL career since debuting with the Canterbury-Bankstown Bulldogs in 2020. He played for the Bulldogs until the end of 2023 before joining the Dolphins in 2024. The versatile centre has made 132 NRL appearances to date.
Current Form & Impact
Averillo has featured in 7 games for the Dolphins in 2026 before being sidelined with a finger injury since Round 8. He has been a consistent performer in a star-studded Dolphins backline alongside the likes of Herbie Farnworth, Jamayne Isaako, Selwyn Cobbo and Hamiso Tabuai-Fidow.
Why It Matters for the Wests Tigers
This move adds experience and reliability to the Tigers’ outside backs as they continue to reshape their roster. Averillo’s ability to play centre or in the halves gives coach Benji Marshall valuable flexibility.
The signing comes as Dolphins teammate Jamayne Isaako also prepares to move, with the fullback/winger joining the Melbourne Storm on a two-year deal from 2027.
Averillo’s professionalism and consistency make him a strong addition as the Tigers look to build a competitive squad in the coming seasons.
