The Melbourne Storm have confirmed the signing of Jamayne Isaako on a two-year deal starting in 2027, securing a proven goal-kicker and outside back as they plan for the future.

Currently contracted to the Dolphins, Isaako has been a mainstay since the club’s inception, featuring in all 76 matches for the competition’s newest franchise.

Proven Performer at the Dolphins

Isaako has built an outstanding record during his time at the Dolphins, recently crossing for his 50th try for the club over the weekend.

He also sits as the club’s leading pointscorer with 791 points, underlining his consistency and importance — particularly with the boot.

Filling a Key Role

The move comes as Melbourne prepare for the departure of Nick Meaney, who is set to join the Perth Bears.

Isaako’s arrival addresses a key area, with his goal-kicking ability set to fill the void left by Meaney, while also adding experience and versatility across the backline.

Meaney is currently sidelined with a back complaint, further highlighting the need for reliable depth in Melbourne’s outside backs.

Immediate Focus Remains

While the signing is a forward-looking move, the Storm’s immediate attention remains on the current season. Melbourne have dropped their last two matches and now face a major test against the unbeaten Penrith Panthers on Friday night.

Meanwhile, the Dolphins will begin Round 5 against the Manly Sea Eagles, led by Kieran Foran, on Thursday night at Kayo Stadium.

For Melbourne, Isaako’s signing represents both a strategic replacement and a long-term solution as they continue shaping their roster beyond 2026.
