The North Queensland Cowboys have secured the services of Thomas Mikaele, with the experienced prop signing a contract extension through to the end of the 2028 NRL season.
The 28-year-old forward has become a valuable member of North Queensland’s forward rotation, bringing size and experience gained across both the NRL and Super League.
Well-Travelled Career
Mikaele began his top-grade career with the Wests Tigers before spending time in the English Super League with the Warrington Wolves. He later returned to the NRL with the Gold Coast Titans before eventually linking up with the Cowboys.
Across those stints, the powerful middle forward has accumulated 115 first-grade appearances across the NRL and Super League, establishing himself as a reliable presence through the middle of the field.
Injury Setback
Mikaele is currently sidelined with a knee injury, but the Cowboys remain confident he will return to the field early in the season. The prop is targeting a comeback around Round 4, when North Queensland face the Melbourne Storm.
Forward Pack Stability
The new deal provides the Cowboys with valuable continuity in their forward pack as they continue building depth and experience in the middle rotation.
Despite his current injury setback, Mikaele’s re-signing reflects the club’s confidence in the impact he can continue to provide over the coming seasons.
