Match Review Committee Hands Down Opening Round 10 Charges

Thomas Flegler and Jacob Preston have been charged by the NRL Match Review Committee following Thursday night’s Round 10 match in the 2026 NRL season.

Both forwards were hit with Grade 1 offences during a physical contest, with Flegler’s prior record resulting in an elevated financial penalty.

Charge Breakdown

Thomas Flegler (Dolphins)

Flegler has been charged with a Grade 1 Careless High Tackle following contact involving Sitili Tupouniua in the 16th minute.

Due to it being his second offence on record, the Dolphins forward faces an elevated fine.

  • Early Plea: $1,800 fine
  • If Guilty at Panel: $2,500 fine

Jacob Preston (Bulldogs)

Preston was charged with Grade 1 Dangerous Contact after an incident involving Isaiya Katoa in the 36th minute. This resulted in Preston being sent to the sin-bin.

  • Early Plea: $1,000 fine
  • If Guilty at Panel: $1,500 fine

What Happens Next

The charged players must decide whether to:

  • Accept the early guilty plea, or
  • Challenge the charge at the NRL Judiciary panel.

Any contested matters will be heard early next week.
