Dragons bolster pathways and depth with Setu Tu and David Fale signings
The St George Illawarra Dragons have strengthened their wing and outside-back stocks with the additions of Setu Tu and David Fale, continuing the club’s push to rebuild its depth across all grades.
Setu Tu, 27, joins the Dragons on a development contract for 2026, with a guaranteed transition into the Top 30 squad for 2027.
While yet to debut in the NRL, Tu has been a standout performer for the New Zealand Warriors NSW Cup side, scoring 13 tries and playing a key role in their 2025 NSW Cup premiership.
The powerful winger has been widely praised for his strong carries, speed, and consistency — attributes that made him one of the most valuable players in the second-tier competition this season.
He will now look to break into the NRL system for the first time as the Dragons continue expanding their pathways and competition for backline positions.
Joining him at the club is former Penrith Panthers outside back David Fale, who last month signed a two-year deal through to the end of 2027.
Fale, who made his NRL debut in Round 26 against the Bulldogs, was part of the Panthers’ NSW Cup system before making headlines when Penrith rested most of their top-grade squad in that match — a decision that drew broad criticism but allowed Fale to showcase his physicality and potential.
The 25-year-old brings strong ball-carrying ability and an edge-running presence, with the Dragons hopeful he can develop into a long-term first-grade option.
The pair join a growing list of pathway signings as the Dragons attempt to retool their roster and improve depth heading into 2026 and beyond.
