The Penrith Panthers have secured the future of premiership-winning prop Lindsay Smith, re-signing the 26-year-old through to the end of the 2029 NRL season.

Across four seasons, he has now played 80 NRL matches for Penrith, featuring prominently in the club’s back-to-back premiership triumphs in 2023 and 2024. His impact off the bench (now starting for his club) and ability to maintain intensity through the middle has made him a key component of the Panthers’ sustained success.
From Panther Junior to International Forward
Smith’s rise has also extended to the representative arena. In 2024, he earned his Australian debut against Tonga, marking another milestone in his career progression.
He later featured in Game 2 of last year’s Ashes campaign, coming off the bench to replace teammate and Australian captain Isaah Yeo, who was ruled out under HIA protocols.
The call-up highlighted Smith’s growing reputation as a dependable middle forward capable of stepping up on the biggest stage.
Securing the Next Phase
With several high-profile departures in recent seasons, Penrith have prioritised retaining core forwards developed within their system. Locking in Smith until 2029 ensures continuity in the engine room as the Panthers aim to remain among the NRL’s benchmark clubs.
At just 26 years old, Smith is entering the prime years for a front-rower. His extension signals both reward for past performances and confidence in his ability to anchor Penrith’s middle rotation deep into the decade.
