Match Review Committee Hands Down Final Round 6 Charges

Will Penisini and Samuela Fainu have been charged by the NRL Match Review Committee following Sunday’s Round 6 matches in the 2026 NRL season.

Both players were charged for separate incidents across the day, with Penisini facing an increased fine due to a prior offence.

Charge Breakdown

Will Penisini (Eels)

Penisini has been charged with a Grade 1 Careless High Tackle following an incident involving Beau Fermor in the 12th minute.

Due to it being his second offence on record, the Eels centre faces an increased financial penalty.

  • Early Plea: $1,800 fine
  • If Guilty at Panel: $2,500 fine

Samuela Fainu (Tigers)

Fainu has been charged with Grade 1 Dangerous Contact following an incident involving Phoenix Crossland in the second half.

  • Early Plea: $1,000 fine
  • If Guilty at Panel: $1,500 fine

What Happens Next

The charged players must decide whether to:

  • Accept the early guilty plea, or
  • Challenge the charge at the NRL Judiciary panel.

Any contested charges will be heard early this week.
