Castleford Tigers will be without hooker Liam Horne for the next six matches after he was suspended for an incident during their recent Super League clash with Wigan Warriors.

Horne was found guilty of a Grade E charge for making unnecessary contact with an injured or potentially injured opponent during Castleford’s narrow 26-20 defeat to the Warriors. The incident was reviewed by an independent Operational Rules Tribunal. Despite Horne entering a not guilty plea, the tribunal upheld the charge, handing down a six-match ban along with a financial penalty.

The Papua New Guinea international has quickly become a key figure since joining the Tigers in 2023, offering grit and spark from dummy-half. His absence comes at a challenging time for Castleford as they aim to turn their season around.

The ban has reignited debate around player discipline and welfare, especially in high-intensity matches. Castleford now face a tough stretch without one of their most consistent performers, with pressure mounting ahead of the season’s business end.
