St Helens have continued to build their roster for the future with a series of key re-signings across the squad, further strengthening the club’s long-term plans under incoming head coach Paul Rowley.

Back-rower Matt Whitley has extended his stay with the Red V until the end of 2028, rewarding his strong form since joining from the Catalans Dragons ahead of the 2024 season. The 29-year-old has become a mainstay in the pack, making 52 appearances across his first two seasons with the club.

England international Daryl Clark has also committed his future to St Helens, signing on until the end of 2027. The experienced hooker, now 32, is closing in on 400 career appearances across spells with Castleford, Warrington, and Saints, bringing vital experience and leadership to the spine.

Adding to the positive retention news, young forward Leon Cowen re-signed with the club on Friday, extending his deal through 2026. The promising talent has made two first-team appearances and represents the club’s continued investment in developing homegrown players.

It’s been an active period off the field for the four-time Super League champions, who earlier this month confirmed the appointment of Paul Rowley as head coach on a three-year deal and the signing of former South Sydney and St George-Illawarra Dragons forward Jacob Host for the next two seasons.

Another former NRL forward and Salford discard Shane Wright agreed to a two-year deal on September 29, further bolstering the pack.

Together, these moves underline St Helens’ intent to blend proven quality with future potential as the club looks to reclaim domestic dominance and challenge again for major honours.
