In a highly unconventional move, Jonah Pezet will link up with the Parramatta Eels for the 2026 NRL season before heading north to join the Brisbane Broncos from 2027 through to the end of 2029.

The 22-year-old half has impressed across 18 NRL appearances for the Melbourne Storm, showing poise and playmaking maturity well beyond his years. His 2026 switch to Parramatta will see him reunite with Jason Ryles, the incoming Eels coach and former Storm assistant, as the club looks to reshape its spine for the post-Moses era.

Pezet’s arrival at the Eels also carries a personal connection — his father, Troy Pezet, made nine appearances for Parramatta in 1998, running out as halfback during his brief stint with the club.

After a single season in Sydney’s west, Pezet will shift to Red Hill as part of Brisbane’s long-term planning in the halves. With Adam Reynolds expected to retire or move on when his current deal expires at the end of 2026, Pezet is viewed as the natural successor to partner Ezra Mam and steer the Broncos’ attack through the back half of the decade.

His departure from Melbourne marks another key change for the Storm, who also released Ryan Papenhuyzen this week. The premiership-winning fullback has been linked to the new R360 competition, slated to launch in 2026, after being granted a release from the final years of his contract.

Pezet’s dual-club agreement is one of the more unusual deals seen in recent years, but it reflects his growing value — and the strategic foresight of both Parramatta and Brisbane as they plan for the future.
