David Gower, as the cliche goes, is like a fine red wine; he gets better with age. Gower has filled in at second-row, lock, prop and even centre, and put in solid performances in each position. His no-frills style of play isn’t always pretty to watch, but it’s effective. At 34, he continues to earn one-year extensions on the back of what he brings to the team: versatility and effort.
