NRL Round 10 2026 Review: Big Margins, Hat‑Tricks and Comeback Drama

Round 10 of the 2026 NRL season delivered lopsided scorelines, individual brilliance and milestone moments, with Penrith strengthening their grip on top spot. Hat‑tricks were the order of the week, dramatic comebacks stole headlines, and several contenders stamped their authority as the competition entered its second phase.

Penrith (18 points, +181) remained in outright first after Round 10, followed by the NZ Warriors (16 points, +108), the Sydney Roosters (16 points, +67), and South Sydney (14 points, +92). Manly Warringah (12 points, +79), the Wests Tigers (12 points, +12), North Queensland (12 points, +9), and Newcastle (12 points, +4) rounded out the top eight.

It was a lopsided round, with an average winning margin of 22 points. Parramatta’s three‑point victory over North Queensland proved to be the closest contest of the weekend. Greg Marzhew led the scoring with five tries, while Jamayne Isaako and Alex Johnston also bagged hat‑tricks. Jason Taumalolo (295 games) surpassed Johnathan Thurston (294) as the most‑capped player in North Queensland Cowboys history, while Manly’s Jake Trbojevic (250) and South Sydney’s Campbell Graham (150) celebrated milestone matches with wins.

Isaako produced a dominant performance, scoring 24 points (three tries and six goals) as the Dolphins swept Canterbury‑Bankstown aside at Suncorp Stadium. The home side exploded in the second half, winning it 30‑0, with Selwyn Cobbo scoring a double and Isaako completing his hat‑trick. The Dolphins repeatedly exposed Canterbury’s edge defence, highlighted by a sublime delayed pass from Isaiya Katoa for Kodi Nikorima. Isaako also showed unselfishness, passing inside for Jack Bostock when a fourth try looked certain.
GAME BREAKER: Jacob Preston’s sin bin just before half‑time proved decisive. With Canterbury leading 12–8, Preston was sent off in the 36th minute for a late tackle on Katoa, and the Dolphins surged to a 20–12 lead before his return.

Parramatta spoiled Jason Taumalolo’s record‑breaking night with a remarkable comeback win at Queensland Country Bank Stadium. In an entertaining try‑for‑try contest, North Queensland led 30–22 after 68 minutes. Late tries from Jordan Samrani and Joash Papalii forced the game into Golden Point, despite Mitchell Moses missing both conversions. The extra‑time period delivered more drama, with Ronald Volkman setting up Moses’ match‑winning field goal before later kicking a penalty goal to close out the night. Josh Addo‑Carr scored a double for the Eels. Tom Dearden’s syndesmosis injury was a big blow for the Cowboys and Queensland. He’ll miss six to eight weeks and could miss most of the Origin series.
GAME BREAKER: Parramatta’s exceptional completion rate (43 from 47 at 91 per cent) kept them within reach until their late surge.

Manly continued their “Fozball” run with a fifth straight win under Kieran Foran, dismantling Brisbane at 4 Pines Park. The victory was tempered by concern for Siosiua Taukeiaho, who suffered a leg injury while scoring. Reuben Garrick accumulated 16 points, while Joey Walsh (Manly) and Antonio Verhoeven (Brisbane) celebrated their first NRL tries.
GAME BREAKER: An ad‑lib play midway through the second half sealed the result, with Brandon Wakeham capitalising on a Reece Walsh knock‑on and creating a long‑range try finished by Tolutau Koula.

Melbourne finally halted their seven‑game losing streak with a strong win over the Wests Tigers at AAMI Park. A blistering start, which saw the Storm race to a 20–0 lead inside 13 minutes, laid the platform. Will Warbrick and Cameron Munster both crossed for doubles, though Sualauvi Faalogo’s night ended early with a suspected facial fracture.
GAME BREAKER: Harry Grant’s dummy‑half try in the 33rd minute extinguished any hopes of a Tigers comeback.

• The Sydney Roosters claimed their sixth consecutive win, defeating the Gold Coast at Gosford, with doubles to Robert Toia and James Tedesco.
• Greg Marzhew continued his outstanding form, scoring five tries as Newcastle ran riot against a still‑winless St George Illawarra at WIN Stadium, with Dominic Young also crossing twice.
• South Sydney defeated Cronulla‑Sutherland at Accor Stadium, powered by a hat‑trick from Alex Johnston, while Blaize Talagi scored a double as Penrith accounted for Canberra at GIO Stadium.

Hat‑tricks were the order of the week, dramatic comebacks stole headlines, and several contenders stamped their authority as the competition entered its second phase.

Penrith (18 points, +181) remained in outright first after Round 10, followed by the NZ Warriors (16 points, +108), the Sydney Roosters (16 points, +67), and South Sydney (14 points, +92). Manly Warringah (12 points, +79), the Wests Tigers (12 points, +12), North Queensland (12 points, +9), and Newcastle (12 points, +4) rounded out the top eight.

It was a lopsided round, with an average winning margin of 22 points. Parramatta’s three‑point victory over North Queensland proved to be the closest contest of the weekend. Greg Marzhew led the scoring with five tries, while Jamayne Isaako and Alex Johnston also bagged hat‑tricks. Jason Taumalolo (295 games) surpassed Johnathan Thurston (294) as the most‑capped player in North Queensland Cowboys history, while Manly’s Jake Trbojevic (250) and South Sydney’s Campbell Graham (150) celebrated milestone matches with wins.

Isaako produced a dominant performance, scoring 24 points (three tries and six goals) as the Dolphins swept Canterbury‑Bankstown aside at Suncorp Stadium. The home side exploded in the second half, winning it 30‑0, with Selwyn Cobbo scoring a double and Isaako completing his hat‑trick. The Dolphins repeatedly exposed Canterbury’s edge defence, highlighted by a sublime delayed pass from Isaiya Katoa for Kodi Nikorima. Isaako also showed unselfishness, passing inside for Jack Bostock when a fourth try looked certain.
GAME BREAKER: Jacob Preston’s sin bin just before half‑time proved decisive. With Canterbury leading 12–8, Preston was sent off in the 36th minute for a late tackle on Katoa, and the Dolphins surged to a 20–12 lead before his return.

Parramatta spoiled Jason Taumalolo’s record‑breaking night with a remarkable comeback win at Queensland Country Bank Stadium. In an entertaining try‑for‑try contest, North Queensland led 30–22 after 68 minutes. Late tries from Jordan Samrani and Joash Papalii forced the game into Golden Point, despite Mitchell Moses missing both conversions. The extra‑time period delivered more drama, with Ronald Volkman setting up Moses’ match‑winning field goal before later kicking a penalty goal to close out the night. Josh Addo‑Carr scored a double for the Eels.
GAME BREAKER: Parramatta’s exceptional completion rate (43 from 47 at 91 per cent) kept them within reach until their late surge.

Manly continued their “Fozball” run with a fifth straight win under Kieran Foran, dismantling Brisbane at 4 Pines Park. The victory was tempered by concern for Siosiua Taukeiaho, who suffered a leg injury while scoring. Reuben Garrick accumulated 16 points, while Joey Walsh (Manly) and Antonio Verhoeven (Brisbane) celebrated their first NRL tries.
GAME BREAKER: An ad‑lib play midway through the second half sealed the result, with Brandon Wakeham capitalising on a Reece Walsh knock‑on and creating a long‑range try finished by Tolutau Koula.

Melbourne finally halted their seven‑game losing streak with a strong win over the Wests Tigers at AAMI Park. A blistering start, which saw the Storm race to a 20–0 lead inside 13 minutes, laid the platform. Will Warbrick and Cameron Munster both crossed for doubles, though Sualauvi Faalogo’s night ended early with a suspected facial fracture.
GAME BREAKER: Harry Grant’s dummy‑half try in the 33rd minute extinguished any hopes of a Tigers comeback.

• The Sydney Roosters claimed their sixth consecutive win, defeating the Gold Coast at Gosford, with doubles to Robert Toia and James Tedesco.
