Match Preview

The Canterbury-Bankstown Bulldogs face one of their biggest challenges of the 2026 season on Saturday night when they host the high-flying Manly Warringah Sea Eagles at Accor Stadium.

Fresh off the bye, Cameron Ciraldo’s men will be looking to build on their gritty 14–12 victory over Parramatta, continue their push up the ladder, and turn their season around.

While the Bulldogs have shown plenty of resilience throughout the season, their attack has been a major talking point. Saturday’s clash presents a genuine opportunity to prove they can match it with one of the competition’s heavyweights, who have found a new lease on life under Kieran Foran.

The Sea Eagles arrive in Sydney sitting comfortably inside the top four and full of confidence after winning four of their last five matches. A major boost for Foran’s side is the return of superstar fullback Tom Trbojevic, who has recovered from a hamstring injury and will add another dimension to Manly’s attack.

For the Bulldogs, all eyes will be on captain Stephen Crichton. After missing State of Origin selection due to a shoulder complaint, Crichton has been named to play and will be eager to lead from the front.

His battle with Manly centre Tolutau Koula shapes as one of the key match-ups of the night, with both players among the most damaging outside backs in the competition.

The Bulldogs will also welcome back Kurt Mann at hooker, providing valuable experience and toughness through the middle. Alongside Max King, Leo Thompson, and Sitili Tupouniua, the Bulldogs’ pack will need to win the battle up front if they are to contain Manly’s powerful forward rotation led by Haumole Olakau’atu and Taniela Paseka.

History suggests the Sea Eagles have enjoyed success against Canterbury, winning 11 of the past 13 meetings between the clubs.

However, Bulldogs fans won’t need reminding of last year’s emphatic 42–4 victory over Manly—a result that demonstrated the blue and whites are capable of troubling any side when they find their rhythm.

Expect a finals-like atmosphere at Accor Stadium under the Saturday night lights. The Bulldogs have won three of their last four matches at the venue and will be desperate to defend their home turf against a Manly side chasing a top-four finish.

With representative stars, big-game experience, and plenty on the line for both clubs, this promises to be one of the matches of the round.
