York Knights have secured the signing of experienced halfback Danny Richardson for the 2026 Super League season, adding proven playmaking class and leadership to their squad.
At 29 years old, Richardson brings a wealth of top-level experience, having played across several Super League clubs including St Helens, Leigh, Castleford, Hull KR, Huddersfield, and Salford. A natural organiser with one of the sharpest kicking games in the competition, he was recognised as one of the league’s best when named in the 2018 Super League Dream Team.
While injuries — including ACL, MCL, and ankle issues — have disrupted his career at times, Richardson’s talent and resilience have never been in doubt. His ability to steer a team around the park and create scoring opportunities will be a major asset to York as they continue to strengthen their roster for next season.
York fans will be excited by the prospect of Richardson partnering with the club’s emerging talent and providing the experience and composure needed in tight contests. His addition adds depth and direction to the Knights’ spine — an area that will be crucial as they push toward a competitive 2026 campaign.
Last week York Knights were granted promotion to the expanded 2026 Super League competition along with Bradford Bulls and Toulouse Olympique.
