The New Zealand Warriors have secured valuable depth in their outside backs, re-signing fullback Taine Tuaupiki through to the end of the 2028 NRL season.
The 26-year-old has had limited opportunities at NRL level due to the presence of incumbent No.1 Charnze Nicol-Klokstad, who has firmly held the fullback jersey in recent seasons. Despite that, Tuaupiki has made the most of his chances when called upon.
Since making his first-grade debut, Tuaupiki has played 25 NRL matches, crossing for three tries while showcasing his speed, agility and strong kick-return game.
Reward for Patience and Performance
While consistent NRL minutes have been hard to come by, Tuaupiki has been a key contributor at reserve grade level. He played an important role in the Warriors’ highly successful 2025 campaign, featuring in both their NSW Cup premiership-winning side and the State Championship-winning team at the end of the season.
His re-signing ensures the Warriors maintain stability and proven depth in their spine, while also rewarding a player who has remained patient and professional in a competitive position group.
Valuable Squad Retention
At 26, Tuaupiki remains in his prime years and provides crucial cover across the backline. With injuries and representative commitments often testing NRL rosters, his experience and familiarity with the Warriors’ systems make him an important retention ahead of the 2027 and 2028 seasons.
The extension signals the club’s confidence in his ability to step up when required, while continuing to push for greater opportunities at NRL level.
