Warrington Wolves have confirmed the signing of prop forward Liam Byrne from Wigan Warriors ahead of the 2026 Super League season. The Ireland international has agreed a two-year deal at the Halliwell Jones Stadium, with the club holding an option to extend for a third.
Byrne, 26, has been a mainstay in the Wigan pack since his debut in 2019. Over six seasons he has made more than 150 appearances and collected an impressive haul of honours, including Grand Final victories, Challenge Cups, League Leaders’ Shields and the 2024 World Club Challenge title.
The move continues Warrington’s strategy of strengthening their forward pack under head coach Sam Burgess. Byrne will link up with fellow 2026 recruits Toafofoa Sipley and Tevita Pangai Jr, adding further power and experience through the middle.
Wolves officials described Byrne as a player with the size, resilience and winning mentality needed to make an impact in Primrose and Blue. His arrival adds proven Super League pedigree to a squad aiming to compete at the very top of the competition.
