Warrington Wolves have confirmed the signing of Albert Hopoate on a two-year contract, as the talented outside back prepares to make the move from the NRL to the Betfred Super League.
Hopoate, 24, arrives with a strong rugby league pedigree as the son of Manly legend John Hopoate. Known for his athleticism, footwork, and composure under pressure, Albert will bring both flair and professionalism to the Wolves’ backline.
From Manly Roots to NRL Debut
Hopoate made his NRL debut in 2020 for the Manly Sea Eagles against the Melbourne Storm on the Sunshine Coast. Despite limited first-grade opportunities, he showed glimpses of his potential — combining sharp attack with solid defence.
Canberra Raiders Chapter
In 2021, Hopoate switched to the Canberra Raiders, where he initially played in the NSW Cup before earning promotion to the NRL side in late 2022. His versatility across the backline made him a valuable option for coach Ricky Stuart.
He featured once during Canberra’s 2025 campaign before suffering a ruptured ACL, bringing an early end to his season. Now fully focused on recovery, his move to Warrington provides the perfect chance to relaunch his career on the Super League stage.
Fresh Challenge in the Super League
The move to Warrington Wolves marks a new chapter for Hopoate, who joins a squad led by Sam Burgess who are rebuilding after a disappointing 2025 campaign. Warrington have made a habit of recruiting NRL talent in recent years, and Hopoate’s signing continues that trend.
Fans can expect a strong, reliable performer who can play both wing and centre, bringing consistency, experience, and a touch of flair to the primrose and blue.
