Match Preview

The Parramatta Eels play their fourth straight game at Commbank Stadium when they host the Gold Coast Titans on a sunny Sunday afternoon in NRL Round 6. Both sides sit in the bottom four and will be desperate for a win to climb the ladder.

The Eels enter the clash after a heartbreaking 22–20 loss to the Tigers on Easter Monday, where a golden‑point penalty goal proved the difference. The Titans, meanwhile, were outclassed by the Broncos in front of their home fans, going down 26–12.

Injuries have forced changes for Parramatta, with Will Penisini, Ronald Volkman, and debutant winger Araz Nanva all named in the starting side. The Titans have opted for stability, naming the same 17 that took the field last weekend.

Jack Williams was a standout for the Eels, topping both the tackle count and run metres. His battle through the middle with Titans enforcer Tino Fa’asuamaleaui shapes as one of the key matchups. Williams’ work rate and versatility make him crucial on both sides of the ball.

Tino, by contrast, has had a quieter start to the season by his usual standards. The Maroons and Kangaroos forward will be eager to rediscover his destructive best — late footwork, second‑phase play and sheer power make him one of the most dangerous forwards in the NRL when he’s on.

Sunday will also showcase two dynamic halfbacks, with Jayden Campbell and Mitchell Moses going head‑to‑head. Both halfbacks are central to their team’s attacking output and aren’t afraid to take risks when they sense an opportunity. Edge defences will need to stay switched on, with both capable of late switches, short‑side raids and momentum‑shifting plays.

Historically, the Eels have dominated this matchup, winning eight of the past 10 meetings – including a 36–20 victory in their only clash of 2025.
