Penrith fans have reason to roar with excitement — Jack Cogger is coming home! The Panthers have officially announced the return of the 28-year-old playmaker on a three-year deal that will keep him in Penrith colours until at least the end of the 2028 NRL season.
Cogger’s return marks a special reunion between the Panthers and one of the key figures from their incredible 2023 premiership triumph. In that unforgettable Grand Final against the Brisbane Broncos, Cogger came off the bench late in the game to replace an injured Jarome Luai, helping steer Penrith to a thrilling 26-24 victory — cementing his place in club folklore.
Since then, Cogger has spent two strong seasons with the Newcastle Knights, where he was in and out of the NRL side. Having debuted with Newcastle back in 2016, Cogger has now notched up 120 first-grade appearances across stints with the Knights, Canterbury-Bankstown Bulldogs, Huddersfield Giants in the Super League, and of course, his time at Penrith.
Panthers General Manager of Rugby League, Shane Elford, said the club is delighted to have one of their own returning to the fold.
“We’re excited to have Jack return to the club,” Elford said.
“Not only does he bring valuable experience and depth in the halves, but he’s also a terrific person who contributes strongly to the culture and standards we set at Panthers. He knows what it takes to succeed here, and we’re confident he’ll make a positive impact both on and off the field.”
For fans, Cogger’s comeback feels like more than just a signing — it’s a homecoming. Known for his professionalism, work ethic, and team-first mentality, Cogger fits perfectly into the Panthers’ winning culture. His return provides crucial depth and leadership in the halves, as the club continues its push for sustained success in the years ahead.
As the Panthers prepare for the 2026 pre-season, anticipation is already building. A proven performer and proud Panther, Jack Cogger’s return is a timely reminder that once you’re part of the mountain, you’re always part of the mountain.
