MATCHDAY PREVIEW
Catalans host Wakefield for the first time in two seasons as Trinity continues to thrive in their return to Super League.
Daryl Powell has made only one change from the Maundy Thursday win over local rivals Castleford Tigers. Ky Rodwell drops out of the squad and is replaced by 2025 new boy Jayden Myers.
Steve McNamara has made two changes to his squad that hosted Salford Red Devils last week as Nick Cotric and Elliott Whitehead replace Clément Martin and Léo Darrélatour.
Tommy Makinson needs two more tries to draw level with Jermaine McGillvary in joint sixth place in the list of Super League’s all-time leaders. Another major milestone that could be broken is Matty Storton will make his 100th Super League appearance if he steps onto the field on Saturday evening.
Catalans have won the last 13 meetings between the two sides. Trinity’s last victory against the Dragons was a 22-12 home win on 21 February 2019. Catalans have also won their last seven ‘home’ meetings with Wakefield (including fixtures at St Helens in 2021 and at Huddersfield in 2020). Trinity’s last victory at Stade Gilbert Brutus was 16-14 on 24 February 2018.
Despite all the stats saying Catalans are dominant in this fixture, Wakefield have won 75% of their away games this season and have won more away fixtures in 2025 than they have at home. This could be Wakefield’s time and if it is, it will be close.
