The Cronulla Sharks are through to the 2025 preliminary finals after a dominant 32-12 semi-final win over the Canberra Raiders on Saturday night.
The result means the Raiders’ season ends in straight sets, while the Sharks move within one win of a grand final berth.
But while the Sharks were celebrating on the scoreboard, two of their players found themselves in hot water with the NRL Match Review Committee.
- Toby Rudolf was charged with a Grade 1 careless high tackle on Joseph Tapine in the 22nd minute. He faces a $1,000 fine with an early plea.
- Billy Burns was also cited for a Grade 1 dangerous contact offence for a tackle on Jed Stuart in the 43rd minute. Like Rudolf, he can take a $1,000 early plea fine.
- For the Raiders, Zac Hosking picked up a Grade 1 careless high tackle charge on Blayke Brailey in the 59th minute. As a second offence, he faces a $1,800 fine with an early plea or $2,500 if unsuccessful at the judiciary.
