The NRL Match Review Committee has charged 15 players following Round 23, with the Canterbury-Bankstown Bulldogs the headline story after forwards Sam Hughes and Harry Hayes opted to contest their charges at the judiciary.
Hughes was found guilty of a Grade 1 careless high tackle on Warriors winger Dallin Watene-Zelezniak in the opening minute of their match, receiving a $1,500 fine. Hayes, however, successfully fought his Grade 1 careless high tackle charge and was found not guilty of an incident involving Warriors’ Demitric Vaimauga in the 54th minute.
Elsewhere, notable sanctions included Coen Hess (Cowboys) and Briton Nikora (Sharks) each suspended for three matches, while Corey Horsburgh (Raiders) escaped suspension but was fined $3,000 for a shoulder charge on Jazz Tevaga. Multiple contrary conduct charges were also handed down in the fiery Roosters–Dolphins clash.
