Management must act on expansion
Time is running out on effective expansion. So many ideas have been floated out about introducing new clubs into the competition, whether it’s the re-introduction of Perth or the Central Coast having their own club. Perth have been starved of an alternative to AFL since the Western Force were axed from the Super Rugby competition in 2017.
There’s a big risk that you will alienate the Perth public even more if a team is not introduced soon. The Origin game in Perth hopefully demonstrates that the community want a team in their neck of the woods, and the odd South Sydney fixture.
Can an eighteen-team competition be a solution? It feels like publicly Todd Greenberg is reluctant to make any changes to the current sixteen teams.
