The Penrith Panthers have secured the future of experienced forward Luke Garner, with the club confirming a contract extension through to the end of the 2028 NRL season.
Garner has become an important figure in Penrith’s forward rotation since arriving at the club in 2023 from the Wests Tigers.
The 30-year-old has played 55 matches for the Panthers, establishing himself as a reliable edge forward during one of the most successful periods in the club’s history.
Premiership Pedigree
Garner played a role in the Panthers’ back-to-back premiership triumphs in 2023 and 2024, adding valuable experience and depth to a side that has dominated the NRL in recent seasons.
His ability to cover multiple positions in the pack has made him a key piece of coach Ivan Cleary’s squad.
Importance Set To Grow
Garner’s value to the Panthers could become even greater over the next few seasons as the club prepares for several changes to its forward pack.
Fellow forwards Scott Sorensen and Liam Henry are set to depart for the Perth Bears in 2027, while veteran utility Matt Eisenhuth has recently announced his retirement from rugby league.
Those departures are expected to create additional opportunities and responsibility for Garner as Penrith reshapes its forward rotation for the coming years.
Stability For The Panthers Pack
The new deal ensures Garner will remain part of the Panthers’ system as the club continues to balance experienced campaigners with emerging talent.
With premiership experience and proven reliability, the extension provides Penrith with another stable piece as they plan for the next phase of their squad build.
