Wakefield Trinity have added another promising young talent to their 2026 roster with the signing of Will Tate, a versatile 23-year-old outside back with plenty of upside heading into the next phase of his career.
Tate has already made 29 Super League appearances, scoring 11 career tries across stints with Hull KR and Castleford Tigers. Known for his strong carries, and ability to finish on the edge, Tate is viewed as a player with the potential to become a key part of Wakefield’s backline in the coming years.
He began his top-flight career with Hull KR in 2020, where he showed flashes of his natural athleticism and competitive edge before moving to Castleford midway through 2023. His 2025 campaign was disrupted by an ankle injury, limiting him to just six appearances, but his return to fitness comes at the perfect time as Trinity continue their recruitment drive ahead of the new season.
Wakefield fans will welcome the addition of a player who combines youth with Super League experience. Tate’s signing fits the club’s focus on building a young, energetic squad capable of long-term success under a developing core.
The club are building nicely for the 2026 season with an excellent season which saw the club make the playoffs. They have recruited Jazz Tevaga from the NRL while re-signing Josh Rourke and Lachlan Walmsley.
