Check out what happened in round 14 of the Super League competition.

Round 14 Results

Hull Kingston Rovers 68-6 Catalans Dragons

The Challenge Cup winners celebrated their historic win with even more history on Friday night. It was Hull KR’s biggest win in Super League in the past 15 years and Catalans’ biggest ever Super League defeat. The Rovers found their way over the try line 12 times, but this was the first lot of points that Catalans have scored since the Challenge Cup semi-final in May. Their inability to grab an early score at Craven Park also meant they set an unwanted record for longest time between points in Super League history. In stark contrast, since the Robins last faced the Dragons they have amassed 19 tries in four games.

Hull FC 14-22 Castleford Tigers

Castleford Tigers picked up a crucial win against the Black and Whites with Hull FC still to win a game at the MKM this calendar year. Tries from Innes and Louis Senior either side of Harvey Barron’s score put the Tigers in control. Further scores from Daejarn Asi and Tom Amone appeared to put Castleford out of sight. But Lewis Martin’s late double made it a nervy ending on a night littered with individual errors for Hull.

Huddersfield Giants 18-22 Wigan Warriors

Wigan survived a scare as they fought back to get an undeserved two points against Huddersfield Giants. Luke Robinson’s struggling Giants looked set to produce a major upset against the reigning champions and should have seen the game out. The narrow pitch and change of circumstances affected the Warriors more as basic errors angered the travelling supporters on multiple occasions. Liam Marshall opened the scoring and set the record as Wigan’s top Super League Try Scorer. The Giants hit back and dominated the game but failed to kill the game off. Two tries from Jack Farrimond in the last seven minutes broke Giants’ hearts as they only have one win and that was on neutral ground.

Leeds Rhinos 36-12 Warrington Wolves

Leeds Rhinos carried on their winning run with an impressive home win against struggling Warrington Wolves. The Rhinos have won five games in a row since the heartbreaking loss against Hull KR in May. Captain Cameron Smith showed what they had been missing while he’s been out with a double to add to the heartbreak had by the Wolves last week. Warrington’s morale-sapping late defeat by Hull KR at Wembley last week was compounded by the loss of full-back Matt Dufty with a fractured eye socket. Leeds are one of the form teams in the competition and will be up there come September.

Wakefield Trinity 20-24 Leigh Leopards

Leigh Leopards took the two points from a back-forth contest between two sides fighting for play off places. The start of the game was very hit for hit with one try each in the first 10 minutes. David Armstrong scored a skilful try to take the lead and the Leopards took control going into the second half. A penalty and a converted try within three minutes of each other put Wakefield in the lead but Joe Ofahengaue scored with seven minutes left to seal the victory for Leigh.

Salford Red Devils 4-46 St Helens

St Helens showed a strong performance against money-stricken Salford Red Devils with Kyle Feldt scoring four tries to add insult to injury as Salford are still rock bottom with only one win from 14. The Saints scored nine tries away from home to keep up with the chasing pack that are coming for the play-off spots. Salford had more off the field issues as Sam Stone was accused of “downing tools” by coach Paul Rowley and the club are weeks away from the HMRC meeting that could fold the club as quick as you can say Salford Red Devils. It is going from bad to worse for Manchester closest Super League outfit.
