The South Sydney Rabbitohs have made a strong statement about their future, announcing a series of key signings and re-signings across their senior and junior systems.

Among the headline moves, Ashton Ward has re-signed with the Rabbitohs through to the end of 2026. Ward made his NRL debut earlier this year against the Cronulla Sharks on July 26 at Central Coast Stadium, a match where an injury-hit South Sydney side nearly produced an upset win. His performance in that game showcased the potential that Souths will be eager to develop over the coming seasons.

Ward’s extension coincides with the re-signings of Bayleigh Bentley-Hape and Tim Johannssen, both also secured until 2026. Bentley-Hape, who has already made nine NRL appearances, has crossed the line three times, showing flashes of his attacking prowess and reliability in the backline. Johannssen’s retention further strengthens the club’s depth and development pathway.

In addition to these re-signings, South Sydney continues to invest in its junior system, locking in Dayne Jennings (2028) and Charlie Poynton (2026) through the pathways program. Both players are highly rated and expected to feature prominently in the club’s long-term plans.

The Rabbitohs have also bolstered their development ranks by welcoming Dean Tauaa (2029) and Saumaki Saumaki (2028) into the system. These new additions highlight South Sydney’s commitment to building from within and ensuring a steady pipeline of emerging talent for the years ahead.

With this wave of signings, the Rabbitohs are sending a clear message — the future is bright, and the next generation of South Sydney stars is ready to shine.
