Canterbury-Bankstown (24 points, +92) finished round 14 on top of the ladder after beating Parramatta in the King’s Birthday Monday game. Canberra (22, +96), NZ Warriors (22, +35), and Melbourne (20, +171) made up the top four, followed by Cronulla-Sutherland (16, +14), North Queensland (15, -52), The Dolphins (14, +92), and Brisbane (14, +44).

The Bulldogs scored three second-half tries in front of 60,000 fans at Accor Stadium. Coming off the bench for his Bulldogs debut, Lachlan Galvin scored in the 73rd minute. There were two long-range intercept tries in the first 11 minutes (Matt Burton for Canterbury and Mitchell Moses for Parramatta), before some controversy just before the break: with Canterbury leading 12-6, Viliame Kikau was sin binned for tackling Mitchell Moses after he kicked. Dylan Walker took advantage to tie the scores 12-12 at half-time.

Canberra celebrated Josh Papalii’s milestone day with a big win against South Sydney at a sold out GIO Stadium. The milestone man finished with two tries and a goal as the Raiders came from 12-0 down. Ethan Strange finished with 18 points (two tries and five goals). It looked like the triple-milestone day (Papalii’s 319th game, Corey Horsburgh’s 100th, and Matt Timoko’s 100th) would overwhelm the Raiders: they trailed 12-0 after 14 minutes, blew multiple chances to get back in the game, and lost Savelio Tamale to a knee injury, but Strange’s two tries either side of half-time sparked the Raiders’ comeback. It capped a huge sporting week at GIO Stadium: the Matildas’ win last Monday, the ACT Brumbies’ Super Rugby Pacific quarter final win on Saturday, and the Raiders on Sunday.

Chanel Harris-Tavita scored two tries in the NZ Warriors’ big win at Sharks Stadium. Leading 12-10 at half-time, the Warriors dominated the second half, scoring five tries (including Harris-Tavita’s double) and keeping Cronulla-Sutherland scoreless. Luke Metcalf kicked six goals.

Jahrome Hughes scored two tries in Melbourne’s win over North Queensland at AAMI Park. While Melbourne weren’t at their absolute best, they still did enough to beat the Cowboys. Hughes’ double gave the Storm a 24-4 lead after 42 minutes, but the Cowboys came back with two tries in three minutes (Scott Drinkwater and Robert Derby), to trail by 10 with 26 minutes left. Nelson Asofa-Solomona got the Storm’s lead back to 16 before Tyran Wishart sealed the win close to full-time.

The Dolphins achieved their biggest ever win in their NRL history. Their 50-point win over St George Illawarra at Suncorp Stadium beat their 38-0 win over the Dragons in Redcliffe last season. Jamayne Isaako scored 24 points (two tries and eight goals), while Connelly Lemuelu, Hamiso Tabuai-Fidow, and Herbie Farnworth scored two tries each.

Brisbane celebrated Adam Reynolds’ 300th game with a huge win at Suncorp Stadium. The Broncos – resembling the All Blacks in their Black Dog jerseys – led the Gold Coast 28-0 at half-time and climbed back into the top eight. It was a vital win after losing four straight and squandering some comfortable leads. Gehamat Shibasaki, Josiah Karapani, and Reece Walsh scored two tries each, while Reynolds kicked six goals in his milestone game. While Alofiana Khan-Pereira scored a double for the Titans, the damage was well and truly done as they stayed in last place.

Thomas Jenkins scored a hat-trick in Penrith’s win over the Wests Tigers at CommBank Stadium. The at-times spicy clash was highlighted by the battle between former premiership teammates Nathan Cleary and Jarome Luai. Another former Panther, Sunia Turuva, gave the Tigers a 10-6 lead after 26 minutes. Jenkins’ second and third tries gave Penrith an 18-10 lead with 16 minutes left. While Jeral Skelton got the Tigers within four, Penrith held on to sit just one point outside the top eight.

Newcastle came from 16-0 down at half-time to beat Manly-Warringah in Golden Point at McDonald Jones Stadium. Booed off the field by frustrated home fans at the break, Newcastle seemed headed for their fifth straight home loss as Manly continued on from last week’s thrashing of Brisbane. But the Knights scored four second half tries, with Fletcher Sharpe’s second try tying the scores at 22-22. Kalyn Ponga sealed the comeback with a try in the 81st minute: he kicked on the last tackle, with Fletcher Hunt (who also scored a try) tapping the ball back for Ponga to score.
