MATCHDAY PREVIEW
Hull FC will host the champions for the second time this season and it is the third time these sides will have faced each other since February. Both sides have one win each so far, both away from home, and Hull are the reason that there will be a new captain lifting the Challenge Cup in 2025.
John Cartwright has made two changes from his League Hull Derby loss as Jordan Rapana and Sam Eseh miss out, with Harvey Barron and Will Gardiner to replace them.
Rapana will be joining Ligi Sao (knee), Jed Cartwright (hamstring), Jordan Lane (arm), Oliver Holmes (knee), Brad Fash (calf), Ryan Westerman (ankle), Liam Watts (calf), and Roman Dawson (ACL) in the Hull FC Physio room.
Wigan head coach Matt Peet has also made two chancges from his side’s Good Friday Clash as Adam Keighran returns from an MCL injury he picked up in the Challenge Cup game against FC.
Luke Thompson is also back in the 21-man squad, replacing Tyler Dupree who failed his HIA last week and Patrick Mago, who missed out due to a Hamstring injury in the warm-up on Good Friday.
Peet spoke to the media this week and he isn’t looking into previous results in the week leading up to this fixture. He said, “It certainly could go either way. Weโre up against a quality team, who have certainly delivered. I like the way they play, the way they carry themselves, the way they are put together โ very tough and committed โ and they move the ball as well as any team in the competition. They have quickly got all the makings of a top team.”
He continued, “I wonโt read too much into previous games as the two teams are capable of beating each other on the day. They were missing a few players when we went there, and when they came here they were excellent whilst we had adversity. Things will happen within the game and itโs about whichever team deals with that the best.”
Wigan have 1-13 back bar Ethan Havard and should have a stronger side to power past Hull and go towards chasing the League Leaders.
