MATCHDAY PREVIEW

Battle of the Borough part two has more hype than the ‘greatest opening night’ back in February. That night gave us one of the games of the season and the lowest scoring game in Super League history.

Leigh have proven in the last few years that they can compete and 2025 is no different. The Leopards have only lost three games in all competitions. They have won four Super League games in a row and currently sit third, one point behind the hosts tonight.

Wigan are on a good run, winning every game in April and haven’t lost since round five in a 12-10 loss at Headingley. They have also scored over 20 points in the past five games, including an impressive win away to Super League leaders Hull Kingston Rovers.

The Warriors are without Abbas Miski as he has had his long-awaited operation and with Christian Wade still fighting for playoffs in the English Premiership, Zach Eckersley will more than likely get the nod to take the number two position on Friday night. Patrick Mago could make an appearance after missing a few weeks due to a hamstring issue.

The Leopards had a number of injury doubts heading into the Challenge Cup Semi Final against Warrington Wolves with the likes of Alec Tuitavake, Aaron Pene, Keanan Brand and Frankie Halton all missing out. Adrian Lam has named an unchanged 21-man squad meaning Pene, Brand and Halton all miss out, however, Tuitavake is once again named to the 21-man squad and could feature.

Owen Trout escaped a ban despite being charged for head contact against the Wolves meaning the forward is available for Friday night’s clash.

This will be another brilliant contest that will be close but not as close as last time and the winners will be different.
