MATCHDAY PREVIEW
The fight for playoffs has started early with nine teams in contention so far for the top six and this game could be important in September. Leeds host Hull FC in a clash that sees fourth take on fifth.
Co-captain Cameron Smith has been named in Rhinos’ initial 21-man squad for the first time since suffering ankle damage, which needed surgery, during February’s Betfred Super League round two win at Salford Red Devils.
Brodie Croft and Ryan Hall could make an appearance as well and Hall needs one more try to go joint 19th in the all-time British try scoring tally, level with Mick Sullivan.
John Cartwright has made two changes to his Hull FC squad to take on Leeds Rhinos this Friday night. The Black and Whites meet the Rhinos at Headingley and are boosted by the return of Brad Fash.
As confirmed by Cartwright in Tuesday’s pre-match press conference, the forward is set to make his return from a calf injury that has seen him miss the last five games. The 30-year-old is also joined in the squad by Jack Charles, who is named for the first time this year.
Jordan Rapana can make his 250th career appearance when the black and whites visit Headingley with Hull FC still being without Ligi Sao (knee), Jed Cartwright (hamstring), Jordan Lane (arm), Oliver Holmes (knee), Ryan Westerman (ankle), Liam Watts (calf), and Roman Dawson (ACL).
This will be a close game, but Leeds will just clinch it in the narrow fashion they beat the Champions back in March.
