MATCHDAY PREVIEW
80 minutes from Wembley. It will either be a second final in a row for the Wolves or a second final in three seasons and an attempt to keep the Challenge Cup in the Wigan borough for a fourth consecutive season.
Warrington welcome Marc Sneyd, Toby King and Matty Ashton back into their squad after the trio missed out on the Magic Weekend clash against Wigan Warriors. Sneyd and Ashton failed their HIAs in the league win against St Helens two weeks ago. Lachlan Fitzgibbon could also feature after going off against the Warriors in Newcastle last Sunday.
Adrian Lam could welcome David Armstrong back into the 17-man squad as he is back in the 21-man outfit after missing out on Magic Weekend last week.
Sam Burgess talked to the media this week and he kept his cards close to his chest with his answers in regard of team selection. He said : “I don’t want to focus too much on who’s injured – I’ll focus on who’s going to play, we’ll get our game plan around that and look forward to the contest.”
Lam also talked to the media and said he’s happy his squad are fighting for positions. He said, “It is a nice surprise with so many new faces coming to the club this year,” he confirmed. “It wasn’t something I thought we could necessarily do. I still don’t think we are playing our best rugby. I believe there is a lot of improvement left in us.”
He then commented on the Wolves, saying ‘they have quality players’. “They are moving the ball a lot more now and are still a good team”, said Lam. “They have quality players who can cause trouble to any team. It’s going to be a tough battle, but we are prepared for that. And I am just worried about my own team; I don’t care who is playing for them.”
Warrington are getting a few key players back but Leigh are red hot and will get everything to click to get back to Wembley.
