This decade saw Super League claim two World Club Challenge wins, with Leeds triumphing in 2012 and Wigan repeating the feat five years later. The Rhinos dismantled NRL champions Manly Sea Eagles 26-12 at Headingley with Ryan Hall’s 90-metre intercept try the pick of the scores as the Yorkshire side ended Australia’s three-year grip on the trophy. However, it would take five years for another English side to win the competition, with a Joe Burgess hat-trick inspiring Shaun Wane’s Wigan to a convincing 22-6 win against the Cronulla Sharks as Super League proved once again that their clubs can compete with the NRL’s best.
