It’s the highlight of this year’s women’s NRL calendar; the NRLW Grand Final. While both teams were favourites at the start of the season, they’ve had very different campaigns up until this point.
This is set to be a great game, with 18 Origin stars and multiple Jillaroo and Kiwi-Ferns player competing. The Broncos will be wanting to remain undefeated to win the first title, while the Roosters will want to prove they can still do it after a rough start to the season.
Last time these two met was in Round 2, and stand out performances by Ali Brigginshaw and Teuila Fotu-Moala saw the Broncos win 14-4. The Roosters have changed greatly since then, and the Broncos have maintained their dominance.
If the Broncos want to win this one, they’ll have to not be too confident and continue what’s worked for them. They’ll have a challenge with an improved Roosters forward pack, so they’ll have to shut them down and utilise their skilful spine. Meg Ward has returned from injury which will also be a large boost to them.
To get back to back wins and take out the first ever title, the Roosters will have to continue their improvement. They’ll need to overcome the talented Broncos spine and maintain their strong defence from last week. Zahara Temara is named as halfback again this week, which was a big reason behind last weeks win.
The game will be held at 1:30pm at ANZ Stadium, as an opener to the NRL Grand Final. It will also be televised on 9 and Fox.
