Veteran halfback Chad Townsend has confirmed he will retire from professional rugby league at the conclusion of the 2025 NRL season, bringing down the curtain on a distinguished career spanning more than 15 years at the elite level.
Townsend, 34, debuted for the Cronulla Sharks in 2011, going on to play for the New Zealand Warriors and North Queensland Cowboys while amassing over 250 NRL appearances.
A steady and reliable playmaker, Townsend was a key figure in Cronulla’s historic 2016 Premiership win, the club’s first in over 50 years. He also represented the Prime Minister’s XIII.
