The Canterbury-Bankstown Bulldogs have secured the services of Bailey Hayward for the long term, with the promising hooker re-signing until the end of the 2028 NRL season.
A local junior, Hayward’s journey through the Bulldogs’ pathways system has been rewarded with a significant contract extension, signalling the club’s belief in his potential to become a cornerstone of their future spine.
Hayward is earmarked as the long-term successor to Reed Mahoney, who will depart the club at the end of 2025 for the North Queensland Cowboys. The 24-year-old has already shown composure and skill beyond his years, most recently earning a starting spot in last weekend’s victory over the New Zealand Warriors.
Bulldogs officials have praised Hayward’s work ethic, game awareness, and leadership qualities, pointing to his development as a prime example of the club’s investment in junior talent paying dividends.
With Hayward locked in, the Bulldogs’ spine depth looks set for stability in the coming seasons as the club builds towards sustained success.
The Bulldogs are third on the ladder with four rounds to go and are locked in a battle with the Melbourne Storm and Canberra Raiders to host a finals match in week 1.
