MATCHDAY PREVIEW

Two changes for the Sharks who are coming off a much-needed win over the Rabbitohs last week. Ronaldo Mulitalo is back on the wing after missing last week with a jaw injury, with Mawene Hiroti dropping back to 18th man. Jesse Colquhoun also returns on the bench, replacing Thomas Hazelton who is out with concussion.

Titans captain Tino Fa’asuamaleaui is back on deck, returning from suspension in a straight swap at prop for Moeaki Fotuaika is out now with suspension. AJ Brimson will miss another week with a rib injury, Jaimin Jolliffe is back from a broken hand with Isaac Liu dropping back to the bench and Iszac Fa’asuamaleaui to 18th man. Kruise Leeming is the new man on the bench with Sam Verrills now set to miss the rest of the season due to shoulder surgery.

After much criticism of their record against top eight sides, the Sharks got one back in an impressive 26-16 victory over the Rabbitohs in Round 23. That win keeps them two points clear of the logjam at the bottom of the top eight, but this is another must win for Cronulla against a team that is all but out of the finals race.

The Titans were incredibly brave last week in a 28-18 loss to the red-hot Warriors. Despite Fotuaika being sent off early, Gold Coast manage to hang in the majority of the match, but the fatigue of playing a man down eventually caught up to them. Despite the loss, they would have taken plenty of confidence out of that effort and will believe they’re a great chance of knocking off the Sharks at home.

It won’t be easy, however, as the Sharks hold the wood over their opponents in recent times, winning the last eight clashes between the two sides. Tino Fa’asuamaleaui will provide a big boost for his side and the Titans will need him, David Fifita, and the rest of the forwards to win the battle against their opposition pack.
